People with special medical needs may be forced to travel in order to receive the treatment or therapy their condition requires. While doctors in local hospitals can prescribe medications and reset broken bones, they often lack the skill and expertise to address less common ailments. Oftentimes, there are only a handful a specialists in the U.S. who have the training to do so effectively. This means people must often travel to other cities to receive the medical care they need. And that present a challenge with respect to accommodations.

Some people stay with family members who happen to live in the destination city. Most lack that option, however, and instead choose to stay in hotels. But this is a less than ideal situation that can slow down the recovery process, especially for young children. In this article, we’ll introduce a third option: corporate housing. The Benefits Of Comfort In An Unfamiliar City

When traveling to any city for the first time, it’s natural to feel slightly disconnected. It’s caused by a lack of familiarity with your surroundings. If you’re on a vacation, the strangeness may be welcome. It’s part of the adventure. But when you’re visiting an unfamiliar city to receive medical treatment, and you need to be comfortable in order to recuperate, it is a different matter entirely.

Staying in a small hotel room does nothing to dilute the sense of disconnection. In fact, it usually adds to it. But staying in a fully-furnished corporate apartment has the opposite effect. There’s more room to relax and plenty of amenities, all of which can make your stay feel as if you’re back at home. Just because you’re in an unfamiliar city doesn’t mean you have to be uncomfortable during the time you spend there.

Privacy And Peace During Your Recovery

Another important perk of leasing a corporate apartment is the amount of privacy you’ll enjoy. Your living space is your own. You can come and go in private, without your every move watched by hotel staff or caught on security cameras. The hallways are less crowded; there are fewer people trying to cram into the elevators; and there is a general peace and quiet in the community. Rather than the constant activity that pervades a typical hotel throughout the night, you’ll be able to relax in a much more peaceful environment.

That can be an enormous benefit when you’re receiving ongoing medical care. You may require plenty of sleep to remain healthy and recover properly. This is far easier when staying in corporate housing compared to a small hotel room with thin walls.

The Luxury Of Staying Indoors

Fully-furnished corporate apartments come with a kitchen and personal washer and dryer. The kitchen provides access to an oven, stove, and large refrigerator. You’ll have plenty of room to cook your own meals and store leftovers.

Contrast this to staying in a hotel room. Few hotels make kitchens available in each room. Enjoying a meal requires visiting a restaurant, ordering room service, or calling for takeout delivery. Not only is this inconvenient, but it can be costly and unhealthy at the same time.

Having a washer and dryer in your furnished apartment or condo is also convenient. You can do your laundry according to your schedule without leaving your temporary home. If you stay at a hotel, you’ll either need to drag your laundry to a laundromat or ask the hotel to wash them for you. Neither option is ideal when you’re receiving specialized medical care.

One of the biggest advantages to leasing a corporate apartment is the amount of room you’ll have at your disposal. Not only will the space help you to feel more comfortable while you recover from your treatment, but it can also prove valuable for accommodating visitors.

Consider a typical hotel room. Most standard suites offer approximately 300 square feet. That’s not much room to host visitors. The limited space can feel cramped with two or three people. Compare that to a fully-furnished apartment or condo that offers more than 750 square feet. You’ll enjoy a living room, dining area, bedroom, kitchen, and separate bathroom. The living space may also provide a balcony or patio.

Traveling for medical care can be stressful and unpleasant. Corporate housing will make you feel more comfortable, which will aid your recovery. At a cost that is comparable to – and oftentimes even less than – staying in a hotel room, you owe it to yourself to consider the option.
